North Vancouver brings CityStudio to the north shore

NORTH VANCOUVER, BC – North Vancouver is the latest city to adopt the CityStudio model of city-campus collaboration as the CityStudio Network continues its expansion across the province and the rest of Canada.

CityStudio North Vancouver is a partnership between the City of North Vancouver and Capilano University and it joins a growing group of CityStudios along the BC coast including Vancouver, Victoria and Abbotsford. There are also CityStudios in Corner Brook, NL; Waterloo, ON; Brantford, ON; Logan, Australia and Bendigo, Australia.

“It’s very inspiring to see more cities in BC committed to innovation and the inclusion of students in collaborative city building,” remarked Duane Elverum, Executive Director and Co-Founder of CityStudio Vancouver. “We are excited to have another CityStudio so close to home.”

The seed for a CityStudio North Vancouver was planted at the 2017 Art of Cities conference attended by Carol Aitken, Chair, IDEA School of Design at Capilano University. With the support of the university’s Vice President and Provost, Laureen Styles and newly-elected Mayor Linda Buchanan, the model was brought to life.

An MOU was signed by the two partners at a signing ceremony on April 30, 2019.
