Emily Gorham

Emily Gorham is thrilled to be joining the CityStudio team as a Program Coordinator. She is honoured to serve as a bridge between the City of Vancouver, partner schools, and the wider community to innovate engaging and inspirational experiential learning opportunities. She brings her background in anti-oppression facilitation to the work, and is keenly passionate about the transformative role of education in creating a more just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and loving future. Her approach is informed by popular education pedagogy and emphasizes critical inquiry into the root causes of complex issues, empowerment through experiential learning, and action-oriented collaboration. Powerfully moving educational experiences can inspire social change, and Emily is enthusiastic to use her many years of experience developing, implementing, and managing social justice education programs, as well as her MA in Peace Education (UN University for Peace) to shape her work at CityStudio. Born as a white settler on the unceded homelands of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples, Emily is committed to being in solidarity with Indigenous Sovereignties on their own terms.

Emily loves learning new things, is always up for an adventure, and can be found learning Mandarin Chinese. She also loves traveling – around the world or in imaginary lands via reading and creative writing.
