Our project is an app designed to tackle food insecurity by helping anyone find fresh and affordable food near them. It locates farmers markets, food banks, and local grocers within a certain region and preferred distance. It also gives people the ability to filter food distributors by dietary, pricing or lifestyle preferences, as well as find clear, condensed summaries on each food source. Our main takeaway from this project was about how much good communication, planning, and a clear project vision matter when designing anything for the public.

Next Steps

We hope our project could be implemented throughout Metro Vancouver as a community resource accessible to all. In the future, we recommend working on it by including even more food distributors for each region, and by including more up-to-date/accurate information on locations. This could be done either by speaking directly to establishment owners or by creating a feature for owners to add in the information themselves.
