CityStudio Changemaker Story Contest

A decade of creativity and innovation told by you

Have you participated or collaborated with us before? Whether you’re a city staff, faculty member, alumni, or any other collaborator, we invite you to submit a story of the impact CityStudio had on your work or project, your team, department, relationships, or even in yourself.

We humbly began as an initiative to address the City of Vancouver’s Greenest City Goals, to connect sustainability, city building and youth – and with the hope of helping Vancouver to become the world’s greenest city by 2020. It wasn’t common to propose municipalities working together with students and teachers to address important urban issues, but over the past ten years it’s become an everyday reality for the CityStudio team. We’ve since expanded our work into many strategic areas and City priorities with the goal of working together to make Vancouver a more sustainable, equitable and joyful place to live.

With summer comes a season of celebrations at CityStudio Vancouver. As we look back at all the innovation, relationships, and all of the projects, we’re deeply honoured and inspired by all the creativity and transformation we’ve witnessed from our partners at the City of Vancouver, our faculty members and collaborators at our post-secondary partner institutions, and especially the students who’ve participated in studio courses, virtual and course collaborations through their schools.

When we tell the story of CityStudio in this decade, we want to do it from first hand accounts of so many amazing people who have collaborated with us. From City staff, to faculty, to students, there are countless stories going untold, and we need your help in sharing them!

Share your story through our CityStudio Changemaker Story Contest, with prizes up to $250! See more details below for criteria and other prizes. CRITERIA

Any student, staff, faculty, collaborator, or community member involved with CityStudio Vancouver since 2011 can submit a Story. The Story could talk about your experience while at CityStudio, something that happened with you, your project or relationships after CityStudio. Awards will be based on the Story reflection of CityStudio’s Theory of Change values: city building with youth, innovation by collaboration, transformational learning, applied projects and community engagement. We encourage individuals to share stories in which there is an evident impact within their community making Vancouver more sustainable, equitable, joyful and creative. Submissions must be submitted by the individual or team that participated directly, include some form of media (images, videos, etc.) and must be no more than 500 words in length.

Stories will be posted sequentially as blogs on our webpage and to be featured (as applicable) as Stories of Inspired Action, and published in our next Impact Report.

If you have any questions, access needs, or are in need of clarification, reach out to us at [email protected].
